Changing the name of your computer is really easy in windows xp.
But in windows 7 and vista its has got deeper and now you need to know be here know how to do this.

This will prove useful incase your computer came with a pre-installed windows operating system and you now want to change the name of your computer to something that you want.

I had recently baught a a new Dell Xps laptop and it came with preinstalled windows 7, and the name of the computer was something weird like dellxps323.. and I tweaked the name to Gametech.

Here is the windows tweak to change the name of your computer and even change the description of your windows operating system.

Their are 3 ways you can do this:-

Type in sysdm.cpl in the start menu(I used this one)

Right click on the computer option on the start menu and change the name of your computer.

Go to the control panel and change the name of your computer and its descrtiption from their.

In case you have opted to go with the later two options then you need to go to the Advanced system system settings on the left menu.

Go to the advanced option

In here you can tweak the name of your windows operating system to what ever you like.

Tweak the username to what ever you want

Note:-A restart will be required for the changes to take effect.
