Install ATI/NVIDIA Drivers In Ubuntu,Mint Gloria

To enable some of the cool features in ubuntu/mint gloria you need to have the drivers for what ever graphic card(nvidia/ati) you have.

Here some ways that will help in installing the ati/nvidia drivers in your ubuntu installation.

Installing the nvidia/ati drivers using the hardware manager

Go to your menu->system->administration->hardware drivers

You will see a window pop up with the drivers that are available to you,according to your graphic card.

select the dirver(ati or nvidia) and click on activate

select the driver(ati or nvidia) and click on activate

Here you can select any of the drivers you want and hit activate-Remember latest ones do not always work,so you should also try the older ones before giving it up.

Now in case no drivers are showing up on the pop up window then you could use the next method.

Insall nividia/ati drivers in ubuntu using the add or remove application.

First of all you need to have the add or remove installed-to install it go to your spftware manager and search for add or remove and install it

Now under your applications menu open the add or remove,and search for the driver you want-nividia or ati drivers

Ubuntu add or remove

You will get a list of drivers-install theĀ  one that you need

Install nvidia/ati drivers in ubuntu using the synaptics manager

Under the applications,go to the administration you will synaptics manager-open it

select the driver accroding to your graphics card

select the driver accroding to your graphics card

Search for the drivers according to your graphics card.

And install it.
