Disable delete comfirmation option In Windows

Like all the UAC’s(user account control) the delete confirmation in windows 7 may be annoying at times.

I have already written on How to remove the password requirement after hibernation.

What you get in this post:-

-Turn off the delete confirmation command altogether
-Prevent users from turning off the delete confirmation command.

How to turn off the delete confirmation box in windows 7

I Am considering that you are logged in as the administrator for this to work.

So go ahead and right click on the Recycle bin icon and go to the properties.

check the box

check the box

In here uncheck the check box next to Display delete confirmation dialog the click Apply and hit Ok.

Now this confiramtion is their for a reason-so that some importatn file/files do not get deleted by accident.

So unless you are a power user and know the pros and cons of this windows trick please do not tuen it off.

That done lets move on to next what:-

Prevent users from turning off the delete confirmation command.

In the start menu type gpedit.msc in the search box.

Start menu

Start menu

Navigate to User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Windows Explorer then double click on Display confirmation dialog when deleting files

gpedit-win7

Enable the option and hit apply.

Enable and click apply

Enable and click apply

Come back to the properties of the recycle bin and you will see the dialog is enabled and no longer available for any user to play with.

See the grayed out area

This can also be done using the registry editor

OPen the run command box by holding windows logo+r or type in run in the start menu

Type regedit in the run box and hit enter.

You registry editor will open up.

In your Registry editor navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer then right-click on a empty space on the right window and create a new DWORD value.

Make a new Dword file

Make a new Dword file

Name this Dword value as ConfirmFileDelete.

Double click on the ConfirmFileDelete file and assign it a value of 1.

Enter the Dword value as 1

Enter the Dword value as 1

For the registry that you made just now to work you will need to reboot your computer.

Now when you go to the properties of the recycle bin,you will see that the option Display delete confirmation dialog is no longer available for manipulation.

Remember again disabling the delete confirmation is not really for newbies ,so don’t play with this unless you are confident of what you are doing.
