Total Validator Firefox Extension is really a awesome tool and is a hybrid(much advanced version of theW3C validator) and its really easy to use.Once you have downloaded and installed the Total Validator Plugin for Firefox ,all you need to do is navigate to the Webpage that you want to Validate and Click on the TV icon that you see in the Firefox status bar.Firefox tool options

To make things even more simple ,you can even make a right click on the Webpage and select the TV icon again and select you method of validation.

This is a post for all the firefox lovers and all of you are planning to switch to it-Go open source or or Go home(for the linux and mozilla community).

So what if you want to install a firefox add on that is not compatible with your current version of firefox.

In this post that’s exactly what we are going to figure out-How to install incompatiblle firefox add ons.

To begin with lets have a look at the error the error that I got

Note:-We’ll need to remember the version of firefox that I am using and I get from the message above.

To begin with type about:config in your firefox address(In a new tab of course)

Now Make a right click on the list select new and then boolean

We now will will asked to enter the preference name.

Note:-This is the most critical part of this firefox trick
We need to enter the exact version of the firefox that we are using.

In the preference type

extension.check.Compatibility.3.6b Remember to enter the Capital C in Compatiblity and the version of your firefox correctly

The toughest part is over.

Now in the dialog box that opens select “false” and close the dialog box.

The value we just created should now appear in the list.

Thats it now you can keep on adding add ons to current firefox installation without worrying about any add on incompatiblity issues with further version of firefox.

Their are some other tweaks to this as well ,here’s a quick description of them:-

Firefox add on’s  incompatilibility-(completely manual)

1-Download the XPI file directly (Right click on install button, save target as)

2-Unzip the xpi file using Winrar or any such tool.

3-Edit the install.rdf file – change version number to 3.6 or something else. Save file.

4-Zip the file again. Change the extension (.zip to .xpi) – Install the add-on by dragging.

Know where a link will take you to and what pages will open.

How will it be be that you don’t have to click on any more links on any website,as now with the use firefox add on Cool previews you can open the webpages just by hovering over the link leading towards it.

What’s cool about cool previews?

Its hot not cool and yeah makes you cool at the same time.

Once the firefox cool previews add on has been installed you only need to hover over a link to go to the its going to take you to and that too without leaving the current web page.

Cool preview,opens up the preview of a webpage almost immediately as you hover over  a link  and the preview is not really a preview its a whole new window that is identical to opening a new tab or window.

The preview windows can be locked so that you can naviagte to the other link of the current web page  preview and that without closing the current preview .You can also navigate to other links inside the preview window.

All you need to do is hover over the image or ite link and image will open up and that too almost immediately and leaving the current wedpage.

clicking on it.

Make firefox 30 times more efficient was the last post that I made and moving ahead with complete firefox customization for this round I will show you how to place and use the google translate button in firefox.

Translation to about 50 languages available.

I am using firefox but you can use this in almost any browser.

To add this bookmarklet to firefox you simply need to drag and drop this bookmarklet in the firefox toolbar.

As you click on this bookmarklet that a translate toolbar pops up once the bookmarklet is clicked on.

The toolbar displays “Translate to English by defult.

One can turn on and off the Laguage translation simply by clicking on the Turn off language translation.

The toolbar can also be closed just by clicking on the x mark on the translate panel.

To do so we click on the small arrow icon and from the drop down select the language.(Hindi in this case)

Its bit funny and after doing this I did this with my blog as well and was laughing for a while.

After the language has been chosen we need to click on the Translate button and after a few seconds you will get the translated page.

Note:-you can revert the changes to the original language as well.

Changing the look of look of any website-why would any one like to do that.

Well basically this firefox tip enables you to customize any site the way you want it to look.

Firefox is one nasty beast which is eating up all the other browsers in every aspect-Now you can customize your firefox to look like anything you want even add any other browsers superb features into.

That’s why I say-”Go open source of go home” that may sound funny but that’s the way it is.

You must have heard about  firefox plugin called Stylish,If no then do read or else do read as well.

With stylish you can make google(any website) look like your own very website or customize the looks the way you want.

To use this firefox add on you first need to add it to firefox.

To do so go to tools tab and select add on-everything after that is self explanatory.

Once you have installed the plugin, you will need to restart your firefox-so bookmark this page and restart your firefox browser.

Once you have restarted your firefox you will see a button named S at the lower right hand side.Now open google and click on the S button now select the third option Find styles for this site from the four options.

Now you can select the styles that you want from a list.
Now you will land on this page

To use any style you need to click on the style that you want and then install it using stylish(not via the script for grease monkey)

Once that is done simply open google and you will see that the way google looks has changed to the style you wanted.

You can further customize the look by editing the css of the style that you installed.

To edit the css again click on the stylish icon on the bottom of your browser and manage styles and click on edit style.
